- Descale the machine every two or three months, for optimum water temperature and full jet of steam. Regular descaling helps to eliminate 70% of malfunctions and extends the life of the machine. Cleancaf, Cafiza, Joe Glo, Brew Rite, Pulycaff are products sold as descaler but they contain only Baking soda which is totally ineffective. CLICK HERE to purchase Guru's Choice Best descaler #DSC-6, available on this Internet store. Make sure the espresso side of the machine is descaled. Automated electronic descaling does not clean espresso side of the machine.

- Avoid using dark roast oily beans. Oil is the aromatic nectar. When exposed to Air and moisture il is reacts chemically and become rancid in few minutes. Oil on the surface also clogs coffee grinder and cause malfunctions. Oily or not, do not refrigerate espresso beans. The beans absorb moisture and form lumps in the grinding chamber and clog the coffee outlet. Moisture also will rust the grinder burrs. Clean coffee grinder (Built in or stand alone) every three months.

- Lubricate the Brew group every month (fully automatic Saeco/Gaggia/Spidem/Solis machines only). It will function smooth and quiet. Click Here for cleaning and lubrication instructions.

- Use a Shot glass to calibrate the quality of espresso every day. Espresso collected in a shot glass gives an instant visual check of espresso quality by limiting the size, showing the color of espresso and the thickness of Crema as it collects on the surface. Get a free shot glass with purchase of a bag of Caffe Bella 100% Arabica blend medium roast beans.

Use of Vinegar, R.O water or Distilled water can damage the boiler wall and gaskets.
